“”The Biotech industry is fond of bragging about their GM
crops that ‘resist pests’. This conjures up images of insects staying away from
GM fields. But resisting pests is a euphemism for contains its own pesticide.
When bugs take a bite of the GM plant, the toxin from the plant splits open
their stomach and kills them.”
That is an exact quote from the article I have linked below.
How do you feel about consuming this same toxin now, huh? The worst part
about it is that we are one of the only countries that still does not require
food containing GMOs to be labeled. Why? Because the company that produces
them, Monsanto, make a lof of money doing so and know that if people knew these
controversial crops were in their food, that they would avoid them. Not to
mention, GMO crops are highly subsidized by the government and are inherently
cheaper for companies to use in their food products.
The
research is starting to come back on GMOs and just some of
the side effects of GMO consumption are: infertility, immune dysregulation,
accelerated aging, dysregulation of genes, insulin regulation, cell signaling,
changes in the liver, kidney, spleen and gastrointestinal system”. Studies have
actually shown that GMOs change our GENETIC MAKEUP.
So how do you avoid them?
Eat Organic
as much as humanely possible. And avoid any of these products unless they are
100% organic: Canola*, Corn, Soy, Flax & Cotton. The non-organic crops of
these are so overly produced that it is pretty much a guarantee that if
non-organic, it is GMO.
*I would
avoid canola all together because this oil offsets the balance of Omega 3
fatty acids to Omega 6 fatty acids. This imbalance is what is causing so many
people to be Omega 3 deficient. Study after study has shown that Omega 3
deficiency causes several chronic diseases like cancer, depression and
arthritis. Use Grapeseed oil in place of it. You will never
know the difference.
Coconut oil
ReplyDeleteAs a moral vegetarian i sympathize with the insect killing inherent in gmo crops. Its a fallacy to equate toxicity to insects with toxicity to humans without citation. Canola oil provides more Omega 3s than 6s, so it is an imbalance, but in a healthy direction. http://umm.edu/health/medical/altmed/supplement/omega3-fatty-acids
